What's the REAL reason you're avoiding the doctor?

While most Americans want to stay healthy and prevent disease and illness, the approach we take varies dramatically. Some of us get regular check-ups and utilize
our health care plan benefits to the fullest. For others, however, ignorance
is bliss. If that sounds like you, consider which of the following healthcare
personalities you can identify with the most.

Procrastinators—Procrastinators fear that a check-up will discover a condition that needs to be addressed and will impact them personally and financially. They delay or avoid getting a check-up to cope with their apprehension.

What-If Worriers—Worriers spend a lot of time thinking about unpleasant hypothetical situations that may never even come to pass. While some worriers see a doctor for every ache or pain, others avoid check-ups altogether because they fear an unfavorable diagnosis.

Solitary Sufferers—Many people don’t get help from their doctors to avoid exposure of personal issues or concerns—in particular, those related to mental health or substance use—because they’re ashamed and worried about being judged by others.

Super Savers—Super savers always look for a good deal and hate to pay full price for anything. They pinch every penny and may view a check-up as an unnecessary expense that’s easy to cut. (The phrase penny wise, dollar foolish might apply here.)

Workaholics—People in this group prioritize work over any other activity. They may consider a check-up to be time wasted that could be used for working. What they don’t realize is that poor health can heavily impact work performance and feeling better enhances productivity.

Self- DiagnosesThis group feels confident they’re already engaging in healthy activities and the need for a check-up doesn’t apply to them. They fail to recognize that many conditions don’t have physical symptoms in the early stages.

No matter which personality you can relate to, prevention remains the best medicine, so get that check up!
